The whole procedure took around five years, with both Lucy and her husband, Cenydd, calling Katie a “wonderful, selfless person.” You would have to be to give your kidney to a woman you just met. We would probably do it if Indie asked us to, we can't say no to a dog with a good heart and big, floppy ears.

Some people become friends through shared experiences, and you can't really have a more intimate experience than giving a piece of your body to someone else. The courage, pawsitivity, and selflessness of Katie are qualities that we should all aspire to find in ourselves to spread to the world.
